Bosson Legal Group Files Malicious Prosecution and Defamation Suit Against the Director of the Warren County Economic Development Authority (EDA)
Bosson Legal Group recently filed a case of Malicious Prosecution and Defamation for Tom Sayre, a Board of Supervisor Member in Warren County, Virginia, against the Warren County Economic Development Authority (EDA) Director Jennifer McDonald. In the case, Mr. Sayre raised questions about a land transaction undertaken by the Warren County EDA, at the behest of Ms. McDonald. Less than 10 days after Mr. Sayre raised these concerns in a meeting between the County and the EDA, the Defendant called the Warren County Sherriff’s Department to report an alleged trespass and break-in attempt at her property. However, hours before the alleged incident took place, the Defendant had contacted another individual with details of the incident that had not yet occurred, including details which seemed to implicate Mr. Sayre in the incident. This false allegation was spread throughout the County, harming Mr. Sayre’s personal and professional reputation.
Mr. Sayre is suing the Defendant for the maximum amount allowed in County District Court plus attorney fees and costs. In addition to the civil suit filed by Bosson Legal Group, a criminal action for knowingly giving a false report to the police has been initiated against Ms. McDonald by the Virginia State Police.
